Each surfer will be judged on his top three waves out of one, two and a half hour heat of each discipline. The Pacific Northwest Judging Alliance with extensive work in all formats and having participated in the Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic since it’s inception agree that after all the years work on the NRBWC that a two and a half hour heat from each discipline with up to 12 surfers is the ideal format for this event. (The reason for longer heats is to minimize the need to breach the shore break more than necessary.) The goal of the of this event is to not only declare champions from each division but also declare a crossover champion with the highest combined scores from both disciplines, to declare the super surfer award. This event is by invitation only and will include the 7 qualified athletes from the Pro/Am and 6 more wildcards (TBD)
